About French Quarter
Known as the Vieux Carre, the French Quarter may be the single most recognizable neighborhood in New Orleans. It's found on a crescent in the Mississippi River and includes some of the highest ground in the city. The French Quarter is known as the cultural hub of New Orleans.

The French Quarter is famously known for the shopping, dining and entertainment found throughout. It's home to the French Market and was once home to an Italian Market. However, the old space for the Italian Market is now full of great art galleries and unique shops. Royal Street is another popular spot for shopping with plenty of galleries, antiques and other options all throughout.
Dining ranges from fine dining to casual with plenty of great options in the French Quarter. Cajun and Creole are huge within the area, but you can also find plenty of other options. Whether you prefer the white tablecloth type of dining or you want something far more casual, the right option is found here.
Plenty of entertainment is found all throughout the streets of the French Quarter. This New Orleans neighborhood is also home to Jackson Square, the St. Louis Cathedral, Woldenberg Park and many other great attractions. Of course, many flock to The French Quarter for Mardi Gras every year. This isn't the only annual event held throughout the area, however.
