Giving Back and Building Community
Tracey is committed to the well-being of her clients and her community, and has always given back a portion of every commission she earns to local charities and non-profit organizations.
Now, in an effort to put a spotlight on and help support New Orleans small businesses during this economic downturn -- and the hard-working folks who are her clients and friends -- Tracey will be giving away $100 gift cards to different small business in the coming months. Every month, a gift card giveaway will be announced on her Instagram feed, and you can enter to win. Through this effort, she’s hoping you’ll get to know and support the wonderful people who own these businesses, as well as their special products and services.
Follow Tracey on Instagram, find out how to win gift cards, and help sustain fabulous artists, merchants, bars, restaurants, jewelers, massage therapists, and many more! See the contest rules at the bottom of this page.*
Below are some of the small businesses she’s supporting through gift card giveaways:
Bywater Brew Pub - Tracey's client, local attorney Nahum Laventhal, was on the hunt for a great building to house his lifelong dream – a brew pub that would fulfill a family legacy after his 38-year law career. She found him the right spot (with the correct zoning) and even helped find the perfect lender for the deal. A two-story, 105-year old building at the corner of Royal and Montegut Streets, this renovated beauty is now a full-scale brewery, full-service bar, and gastropub. Bywater Brew Pub brews twelve of its own beers on site (with rave reviews from Eater New Orleans and Google), serves a delicious Viet-Cajun menu by Chef Anh Luu, and offers gorgeous indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as reservations, pickup, delivery, and a fully-vaxxed staff. They’ll be canning some of their own beers soon, too, but you can buy a keg to take home now. Read more about Nahum and Bywater Brew Pub on Tracey's blog.
Satsuma Café – In addition to being a Rêve Agent and a licensed contractor, go-getter Cassi Dymond is also owner & general manager of Satsuma Café, a beloved spot known for its wholesome, natural ingredients, cold-pressed juices, breakfast & lunch sandwiches, and lazy weekend brunches. From great lattés and muffins to scrambles and burritos, there’s something for everyone at this always-fresh favorite. Located on Maple Street near Tulane University, Satsuma's got indoor and outdoor seating, so stop by soon and enjoy something delicious.
Trep’s - In the height of the pandemic, Rêve agent Danny Akers had a great idea and ran with it. He and three partners opened Trep’s, a family friendly, pet-friendly restaurant in Mid-City with a global comfort food menu and an entire oasis of beautiful outdoor dining. From truffle fries to baby beignets(!) and so many delicious dishes in between, the menu is sure to please. Oh, and don’t miss the “lushie,” their signature house frozé concoction. Be sure to book a table online and meet friends for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Midway Pizza - In 2014, Tracey's friend and client Steve Watson opened Midway Pizza, a New Orleans deep-dish and Louisiana thin crust pizza place at the corner of Freret and Upperline Streets. Now a staple of the neighborhood, it’s got a family-friendly vibe and full bar, with 15 varieties of beer on tap, fresh salads, and crispy wings, too. Tracey's a big fan of the arugula salad and the top shelf margarita pizza, washed down with a couple of Shiner Bocks. Whether you’re in the mood for dining in, takeout, or delivery, they’ve got you covered.
St. James Cheese Company - Since 2006, Tracey's friends Danielle & Rich Sutton have offered an incredible selection of perfectly ripe cheeses, charcuterie, and gourmet items at St. James Cheese Company. With two locations – one at 5004 Prytania St. and another recently reopened in the Warehouse District -- they like to say that they know people who know people who know people. Which means they have an international network of cheese makers who hook them up with artisan cheeses not found elsewhere. Tracey loves the Hook’s Cheddar Sandwich, Manchego Salad, Housemade Mac & Cheese, and Paté Plate! Be sure to shop in store, order take-out, pick up curbside, or enjoy outdoor seating.
Sucré - A beloved classic that’s recently reopened, Sucré is under the leadership of new owner Ayesha Motwani and pastry chef Ashley McMillan. It’s a favorite dessert and coffee spot, and Tracey is happy that they’re serving up all the original recipes, with everything made in-house from scratch. If you’ve never tasted a Sucré king cake, this is your chance! As delicious as they are beautiful, the king cakes are so adored that customers drive in from out of town just to stock up. Sucré specializes in French macarons, Swiss chocolates, cupcakes, and gelato, and it’s an awesome place to celebrate or just treat yourself. Check out shopsucre.com or visit at 3025 Magazine St.
Hotel Provincial & Sylvain - Tracey's friend Bryan Dupepe owns the intimate Hotel Provincial – an architectural gem with lush, tropical courtyards that offers the serenity and unique style reserved for the residential section of the French Quarter. Sylvain, a block off Jackson Square and owned by Robert LeBlanc, is a favorite bistro of Tracey's, with a crafted collection of iconic southern fare and locally-inspired cocktails. The Hotel Provincial and Sylvain are part of a special staycation giveaway package. Check out hotelprovincial.com and sylvainnola.com to get a closer look at these two wonderful spots.
Windowsill Pies - Southern styled, French inspired and New Orleans baked, Windowsill Pies offers swoon-worthy, scratch-made, sweet & savory hand pies, whole pies, and tarts. With a newly opened bakery and coffee shop at 4714 Freret St, the Windowsill Pie gals -- Nicole Eiden and Marielle Dupré -- believe every slice of pie is an opportunity to create and share a lasting memory with others. Check out windowsillpiesnola.com to place your holiday orders, and choose from award-winning favorites like Amaretto Pear & Dried Cherry Pie (recently named one of the best desserts in the city by New Orleans Magazine), Dark Chocolate Peppermint Tart, and Vanilla Bean Bourbon Pecan Pie. Yum!
Horn's Eatery - Kappa Horn is the owner of Horn’s Eatery, a great breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot housed in a historic mid-1800s building on the corner of Dauphine and Touro in the Marigny. Blainey (who’s known Kappa since kindergarten) and Tracey both love their signature dishes, like the Chicken & Waffle, the Crabby Wife (two eggs on top of a Saint Cloud’s crab cake, smothered in Étouffée), and the Guatemalan. With lots of outdoor dining, Horn’s is currently open Thursday-Sunday from 8 am – 2 pm, and Kappa adds, “feel free to bring your four-legged friends – dogs are some of our favorite customers!”
City Greens – Abhi Bhansali is a co-founder of City Greens. He met Tracey in 2015 when he and his girlfriend Colleen were house-hunting. Tracey had just listed a double shotgun that had amazing possibilities and showed it to them. Looking back, Abhi says, “Tracey and Colleen both saw something I didn’t, but thank God they did! It took 8 months to renovate it, and now it’s our sanctuary.” Married and with a baby on the way, they’re happy to grow a family in their home. Abhi calls Tracey “resourceful”, but that describes him as well, getting City Greens locations open again and serving creative, individually packaged salads and wraps you can trust. Stop by Metairie Road, Freret, Citrus, and Poydras, and grab something fresh and delicious.
Marion Cage – Tracey met Designer, friend, and client, Marion “Molly” Cage McCollam when she moved back to New Orleans from New York in 2009. Tracey sold her a building on Magazine St. that she transformed into an amazing live/work studio & gallery space, and it’s truly a showcase for her talents as a licensed architect. In fact, Tracey refers clients to her who are looking to renovate. Her elegant, contemporary jewelry designs are a personal favorite of Tracey's. While store sales have been slow due to the pandemic, she’s staying busy designing custom bridal rings, creating beautiful cabinetry hardware, and doing architectural work. Whether she’s designing a building, a light fixture, or an engagement ring, as long as she gets to flex her creative muscles, she’s happy. Tracey appreciates that Molly refers to her as “a people connector with boundless energy” and hopes you’ll check out her gorgeous pieces for adorning yourself and your home at www.marioncage.com.
Del Fuego Taqueria – Dave Wright, chef and owner of Del Fuego Taqueria, is a client and friend, and Tracey met him 10 years ago when she helped him find, renovate, and do a lease-purchase agreement on his restaurant space at 4518 Magazine Street. He calls Tracey “A firecracker – outgoing, energetic, always on.” Del Fuego is a favorite stop for Tracey, and she loves the shrimp quesadilla, loaded guacamole, and fresh-squeezed cocktails. Right now, you can dine on their beautiful front and back patios, or do curbside pickup and delivery. Ordering online? Do it at delfuegotaqueria.com – that way, with delivery through DoorDash, Del Fuego receives 100% of the sale.
Green Fork – Named one of America’s best juice bars by Condé Nast, The Green Fork offers healthy goodness with fresh juices, smoothies, salads, and soups prepared daily in small batches and made with love. Co-owner and friend Stephanie Kern and her brother Trey Buerger have been at it since 2010, and Tracey loves everything they make, including the LAUGHTER coffee smoothie and CREATIVITY green juice. Stephanie is knowledgeable about nutritional health, offers customizable 3-day juice cleanses, and gives great advice based on your needs. Unfortunately, the Metairie location is now closed, but the Garden District and Covington locations are open, offering pickup, delivery, and catering. They’re ready to help you boost your immune system.
The Wine Seller – Ben Lazich, owner of The Wine Seller, is a good friend of Traceys, and they graduated from high school together many years ago. Tracey loves Ben’s taste in wine and gets her favorite California and Washington State Cabernets there, as well as Daura gluten-free beer. Tracey always stops by before a closing to pick up a bottle of champagne or wine as a congrats for her clients. They gift-wrap it for her, and she's on her way. Ben says, “Tracey’s always on the move, always hustling, and working really hard for her clients.” Thankfully, business has been busy at The Wine Seller, and they’re working hard to provide delivery and curbside pickup. And as Ben notes, “You can always come in and talk to us, like the good old days!”
Barrow's Catfish - Deirdre Barrow Johnson and Kenneth Johnson Jr. are 3rd generation owners of Barrow’s Catfish, Food Network Champions, and proprietors of one of the longest-running Black businesses in New Orleans. Started in 1943, the family restaurant was originally called Barrow’s Shady Inn, and from the Hollygrove neighborhood, word spread ‘round the world about its cornmeal-dusted fried catfish. Even Oprah made a special trip to track it down :-) Carrying on the legacy of the family recipe and currently offering curbside take-out service only, Barrow’s Catfish is a must for catfish and potato salad, but don’t miss the delicious starters like charbroiled oysters and seafood gumbo.
The Delachaise – Evan Hayes, owner of The Delachaise wine bar and Chais Delachaise wine bistro, is Tracey's good friend from way back when they were both LSU students. For years, Tracy has hosted an annual party for clients, friends and family at The Delachaise, and regularly stops by there for a glass of Cabernet after work because she loves the vibe, the amazing goose-fat fries, and the shrimp Clemenceau. She's grateful to be Evan’s real estate agent, and honored that he says she's “kind-hearted and always trying to spread business to friends.” Evan’s happy to have re-opened both locations and hopes business continues to get better. So grab a table on the patio and catch up with friends, get one of the few seats indoors, or order food and cocktails to go with curbside pick-up.
GoGo Jewelry - Tracey's friend and client for over 15 years, Gogo Borgerding is the artist behind amazingly unique, hand-crafted, conversational cuff bracelets, belt buckles, necklaces and more. A featured artist at Jazz Fest for many years (this year was a real set-back), she had a storefront on Magazine St. that she recently closed. Now, she’s transitioning to sell online and in social media exclusively -- and is really looking forward to the next chapter. Tracey is a devotee of her jewelry, has turned many others on to her work, and is helping her find the perfect studio for this transition. She loves that Gogo relies on her for professional real estate advice and calls Tracey “a real go-getter who’s not gonna blow smoke up your ass." Tracey and Gogo are two peas in a pod – they can chat up anybody, sell till the cows come home, and do it honestly, and with sincerity.
