French Quarter Fest 2026: Living in the Heart of It All

For me, few things capture the soul of this city better than French Quarter Fest. It’s officially the largest free music festival in the nation, but to those of us who live here, it feels like the world’s best neighborhood block party.
With 20+ stages and the smell of crawfish bread in the air, it’s easily one of my favorite times of year — when the French Quarter is at its best: vibrant, musical, and full of life.
What’s New for 2026
This year feels especially exciting. The festival runs from April 16–19, and the big news is the homecoming of PJ Morton. It’s been 12 years since he last performed at French Quarter Fest, and seeing this St. Aug graduate and local favorite return to headline the Abita Beer Stage feels like a true full-circle moment for the city.
There’s also more to explore this year, with the festival expanding along the river into Goldring Woldenberg Riverfront Park at Governor Nicholls Wharf. And for early risers, the French Quarter Festival 5K returns on Saturday morning for the first time in over a decade.
A Quick Insider Tip
Before you head out to catch a set by Rebirth Brass Band, a quick note: the festival is now fully cashless, so have your card or mobile payment ready. If you prefer to use cash, RFID festival cards will be available at exchange booths — and if you’re near St. Louis Street, the main exchange is conveniently located in the Jax Brewery lot.

The Magic of Living Near the Fest
What I love most about French Quarter Fest is how it brings the neighborhood to life. You can spend the afternoon strolling from stage to stage, enjoying the music and food, and stopping into favorite local spots — all surrounded by the beauty and history of the French Quarter.
But the real luxury is being able to step away from it all and return home. When you live here, you’re not just visiting for the weekend — you’re part of the fabric of the Quarter.
That’s what makes 925 St. Louis Street so special. This beautifully renovated 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath home offers the perfect balance: just a few blocks from the energy of Jackson Square, yet tucked away as a quiet, private retreat. Inside, it blends Victorian charm with thoughtful modern updates, the lush courtyard offers a peaceful escape, and the location puts you right near the festival, with the comfort of home just steps away.
If you’ve been searching for your own piece of the Vieux Carré, there’s no better time to take a closer look. If you’d like to learn more about this property or living in the French Quarter, let’s talk.
